OneDrive for Business is ...
OneDrive for Business is a cloud solution that will replace 'My Documents' giving the user an option to access their documents from anywhere on any device. OneDrive for Business on your computer will always keep the latest version of your documents for you, therefore in the event of going offline, you are still able to access all your stuff.
Access OneDrive for Business by ...
Access your OneDrive for Business by going to the web access on office.com and selecting OneDrive for Business or you can use the built-in app on windows computers (start typing one drive into your windows search bar - if you struggle to find this follow this link https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/download/) or you can also download a mobile app.
Share documents from OneDrive for Business ...
Sharing documents from your OneDrive for Business with other people in the company is also easier and can help to reduce the email traffic (attaching documents to emails). If you want to share a file with someone else, click right on the file (once in OneDrive for Business) and select share. Type in the name of the person you want to share this with and click send. This will trigger an email that notifies the receiver that you, the sender has shared this file with them and provides a direct link to the file.
If you want to share your file with more than 1 or 2 people, please consider using SharePoint!
Start using OneDrive for Business ...
If you open the desktop app on your computer, it will prompt you to log in (just once) with your email address (namesurname@sagroup.co.uk) and your computer password. Once setup you will be able to easily navigate to it through your file explorer as displayed on the attached picture.
When you open your OneDrive for Business you can just drag and drop your documents and your desktop to the folder. Once there are green ticks next to the folders that mean they were successfully synced with the cloud server (aka they're backed up and available for you).
Remember ...
- Please note that you always need to wait until the green ticks display to avoid losing documents.
- The documents in OneDrive for Business are not linked to the existing documents that you are copying, so please once successfully copied, delete the remaining copies to avoid confusion.
- Be aware that you can only choose between to permissions when sharing files from OneDrive - edit or read-only. If you need more options, please consider using SharePoint.
